Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue where Snipe Shot achievement would improperly be awarded
  • Fixed issue where touchscreens may have issues with browsing Achievements
  • Fixed potential issue that would prevent the Beating The Fire Cult in Under a Minute Achievement from being awarded

Beta Updates [5/21/15]

Let’s call this one MAJOR PATCH 1

Gameplay

  • Added Achievement System with a Total of 30 Trophies.  You can access these from the Game Stats Menu from the Main Menu.
  • Increased drop rate of all Scintillating Avatar Gems
  • Scintillating Avatar Gems will no longer drop if you already possess that particular gem
  • Increased spawn time of Power-ups by 5 seconds
  • Deepest Bluest Boss now flies across the screen much faster when below 50% health
  • Minor updates to Tutorial
  • Pixel Keepers and Pixel Spawns are now more vicious
  • Default Avatar speed raised

Bug Fixes

  • Deepest Bluest Boss can no longer hit you multiple times in one pass
  • Fixed issue where completing Tutorial could result in a crash
  • Fixed potential game save issues

Gameplay

  • There is now a confirmation dialog when trying to Quit to Main Menu.  Players were accidentally pressing it when action got intense in the bottom right corner
  • Evil Androids have been updated with a new look and movement behavior

  • Menu sounds will now play properly when adding, removing, and setting Skill Points

Beta Updates [4/23/15]

Gameplay

  • The Big Bang Power-up now blows out 6 miniature Avatars that wreck everything for a small amount of time instead of instantly causing damage to all live Monsters.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue where Mage Balls from Undead Mages weren’t properly being disposed of and potentially leading to frame rate drops
  • Better clean-up on Monster deaths should result in better frame rate
  • Fixed issue where Raid Sync wouldn’t properly sync Party Level after a death

Beta Updates [4/22/15]

Gameplay

  • Adjusted armor levels of all Raid Bosses… they should now not all be highly vulnerable to Ice
  • Made tweaks to Tutorial
  • Added Helper Text to The Fire Cult

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent Raid Sync from properly saving skill assignments after spending them.
  • Made dragging Raid Party with mouse more reliable
  • Fixed an issue where Hit sounds would play even if sound was disabled

Optimization and Re-factoring

Raid Encounters is my first JavaScript project, and I’ve learned a lot of things along the way in regards to actual coding with the language and now that I can kind of oversee the body of work, there are a lot of changes I feel can be made to further optimize the codebase and get it ready for some required tweaking in terms of performance, design, and everything else that comes with creating a universal experience.

While the “campaign” is pretty much finished with Raid Encounters, I am still going to be making tweaks to loot, monsters, balance, skills, and all types of other items as I shift into putting the final touches in.  There are two major features that I feel Raid Encounters needs in order to truly set it apart from other games, and the work that’s going to go into that will be beginning shortly.  When I programmed some of the last couple of bosses in Raid Encounters, I truly felt I could now program anything I wanted without having that feeling of “Oh, that’s not possible.”  Maybe I finally got a good grasp of my scope and the abilities of Phaser, but I feel that multiplayer and user-created dungeons are possible to a degree.

Beta Updates #2 [4/21/15]

Gameplay

  • Added In-game Tutorial Mode
  • Health Orbs will not have a chance of spawning anymore unless you are missing health
  • Invincibility Power-up has a higher spawn rate

Bug Fixes

  • Adjusted Snipe Shots
  • Fixed issue where stacking Invincibility Power-ups would have hilarious results
  • Fixed issue where removing Skill Points from Speed and Luck would not display correct modifiers
  • Fixed issue where Resetting Skill Points wouldn’t immediately re-enable the ability to add skill points
